Nothing is Wasted!

“Make sure the company you join has the same values as you do.” –Lynda Resnick, author Rubies in the Orchard

Did you know that nothing is wasted in God’s kingdom? NOTHING.

I reached a point where it became vividly clear that the company I was working for did not share my values.  I had no idea what to do next. I needed a job that would allow me to have flexibility in my schedule for my family and worship ministry at church. A job like that doesn’t come along very often so I had come to terms that I would have to give something up—either pay or flexibility.  It made me sick to my stomach to think that 10 years of experience in my career seemed wasted.

I cried out to God and prayed for guidance. I asked God to give me a dream because that is the ONLY time my brain is turned off and I’m not trying to make something happen in my own strength! God is faithful. He gave me a dream. I remember telling my husband the next morning, “Um, I think God told me to send my resume to ScriptureArt.” He kind of gave me a funny look but we had both been praying, so he agreed I should probably send it.

I had only heard of ScriptureArt maybe 6 months prior and it wasn’t even on my radar—a good indication that I truly HAD heard from God! I knew that what I was about to do sounded crazy, but I figured I didn’t know the people at ScriptureArt anyway, so what the heck! I found info@scriptureart.com on their website and sent an email that sounded something like this:

This may sound crazy, but I had a dream and I felt like the Lord wanted me to send you my resume. I run sales, marketing, and operations at a small company that has products in a variety of large retailers such as Wal-Mart, Costco, CVS, etc. I also lead worship at my church and here’s a list of people you can call so you’ll know I’m not crazy.

(Well, maybe the last part didn’t sound EXACTLY like that, but you get the picture.)

Around this same time, a woman named Kelly had also been crying out to God because she needed help with the logistics of running a business. ScriptureArt was growing which was great, but it also brought a lot of challenges. Kelly had a background in real estate which was extremely different from running a company like ScriptureArt but she knew God had told her to start it. She was trusting Him to provide…I was trusting Him to provide.

I was stunned when she emailed me back. Stunned and delighted. Stunned because this was just plain NUTS. And delighted because I knew that I wasn’t crazy—I HAD heard from God.

After 10 minutes on a phone call talking about ‘businessy things’ Kelly said, “Ok, just stop talking. What you’re saying doesn’t even matter because I KNOW that I’m supposed to be working with you. I have had a peace about you and about this phone call and I am 100% sure that you are meant to be part of ScriptureArt.”

It was everything I could do to not start crying. Was it really true? Could I really do what I loved and had 10 years experience doing? And this time for a company that exists solely to encourage people, spread God’s Word, and bring glory to the King of kings?

Friends…it’s true. There’s a saying that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Can I tell you that God is NOT like that? He is NOT too good to be true. He is for you. He has GOOD plans for you. He desires for you to be near to Him. He PROMISES to work ALL things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. He is trustworthy and He keeps His promises.

Nothing is wasted. This was His plan all along–to bring 2 of His precious daughters together that needed each other at the perfect time.

Our corporate office is in North Carolina, but I live in TX. Other members of our team live in other parts of the country. ScriptureArt is a company that allows each of us to use our strengths in business and also allows us flexibility for our families and ministries. I am THRILLED that God led me here…I encourage you to boldly ask God for guidance. Then listen. Then do what He says. He has things planned for you greater than you could ever ask or imagine!!

Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.”

What has God been calling you to do that you’ve been ignoring? Are you too scared, tired, busy? What is it that is holding you back? You only get ONE CHANCE at this life. Live it fully.

Blessings,

Crystal

ScriptureArt ~ Accessorize. Renew. Transform.

This is a little glimpse of who we are….

LAUNCH!

We are so excited to announce ScriptureArt LAUNCH! We are not currently a direct sales company but recently we have had an overwhelming number of people ask if they could host events in their homes so they could share ScriptureArt with their friends and family. Because ScriptureArt is a NEW company, we’ve prayed for God to provide ways to spread the WORD and He has answered our prayers!

Here’s the scoop!

What is a ScriptureArt LAUNCH?

It is a chance to invite your friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors over to your home to see the products we have created to help you incorporate God’s Word into your daily life. It is a time to encourage one another, get inspired, fellowship together, and have fun! Because ScriptureArt is a new company, not many people know about us so, as a host/hostess you are LAUNCHing ScriptureArt in your area!

What do I have to do if I’m interested in hosting?

To be approved as a host/hostess, you must be 18 or older, love the Lord and be in a city where we have done no more than 2 LAUNCHes. Send us a Facebook message or email crighton@scriptureart.com and let us know you would like to host.

Okay, so if I’m approved, how does this work?

We create a Facebook event page for your LAUNCH and we make you an admin for your event. You can send invites via Facebook with just one click. We can also set up an Evite for your event if necessary. Next, we send you a catalogue and ask you to pick out $100 of free product that is yours to keep if your LAUNCH sales are $250 or more. This allows you to have the product available for your family and friends to see and feel. We mail you the product and the other LAUNCH supplies (listed in the next section).

Move over Santa, Jesus is at this Mall!

This holiday season, a new kind of shop has arrived at the mall. ScriptureArt Gifts has opened a kiosk at Cary Towne Center in Cary, NC.

This is not your average gift stand. Employees at this kiosk are here to pray with customers, offer support, and sell encouraging products that are designed to help customers develop a deeper relationship with God.

Kelly Shiley, owner of ScriptureArt, started the company in her kitchen last year after struggling with months of post-partum depression from baby number 3. She wrote Scriptures on index cards and placed them all throughout the house to help her get through the dark times. One day while on a run, she felt the Holy Spirit speak to her and encourage her to develop a product that would make meditating on Scripture easier and readily available for people everywhere.

This led to the birth of the company’s best selling “Promise Packs”– a collection of 4 different verses each grouped around a common theme such as healing, encouragement, faith, strength, etc.. that stick to any smooth surface and can be re-positioned and removed without residue.

Since the launch of ScriptureArt, Kelly has taken this patented vinyl material and applied it to laptop covers, calendars, whiteboards, kids room décor, and other gift products all with inspiring Scriptures in each design. While Jesus himself may not be hanging out in the food court this year, ScriptureArt hopes to spread a His Message of ho-ho-hope and love to all who pass through the mall this holiday season!

Seriously, God??

I’m driving down the road last week and I’m literally begging the Lord for wisdom. I have lots of bills due and lots of business decisions that need made. I am actually begging him to give me the okay to just go crawl under the couch and hide away for a while…when out of the clear blue the words “mall kiosk” come flying into my head. Who suddenly thinks of “mall kiosk” while they are driving down the interstate? I’m like…oh, no.. first of all…it is November 6 and no malls would have a mall kiosk left. Secondly, if they did, the rent would be way too high this time of year. So, like any good Christian, I  start negotiating with God. “God, if this is really from you, then they will give me a spot right in the middle of the action at the center of the mall on my small budget.” Well…long story short, sure enough…God had one saved just for me :) So, today we opened our very first mall kiosk at Cary Towne Center Mall in Cary, NC. I had NO idea what I was doing, but after 3 hours of being there and talking with moms pushing strollers, security guards, other workers, and all the mall walkers, it was clear that I was right where I needed to be. You don’t always have to travel to distant lands to find your mission field. This week God showed me it is right there in my own backyard. Come visit us and pray for us as we share the message!

Welcome to our Blog!

I have been wanting to start a blog for a long time, but every time I sit down to write it, I hear this voice in my ear, “your not a writer….what are you doing? Nobody cares about what you have to say.” I am sick of that voice. I am done letting it stop me from sharing what is on my heart. So, while I may not be the next Jane Austen, I am going to fearlessly forge into the blogosphere.

Growing up, I loved to listen to DC Talk. Anyone out there remember, “Jesus Freak”? I actually heard it on the radio the other day and was jamming out driving down the road. I can remember looking up to those guys and thinking, “wow, they are so cool and they love Jesus.” It felt good to have someone to look up to that was following Jesus. Now that I’m a parent of three kids, I’m always looking for ways to spark their passion for Jesus and help them fall in love with Him. My hearts desire and passion is for everyone to experience what it feels like to truly have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Not just to accept Him as Lord and Savior, but to truly develop a friendship with Him.

Katie and I learned at a young age how fast life goes. Our brother was killed in a car accident when he was 8. We lost our home, moved states, and watched our parents struggle through depression. We learned that we are never promised tomorrow. When God laid it on my heart to start ScriptureArt®, I felt like Moses when God told him to go to Pharaoh. I wanted to say to him, “are you crazy?…I have three small kids and a degree in Psychology not business or retail!”. I knew He wasn’t going to leave me alone until I stepped out on faith and started this journey. He has put a burning passion in my heart to create products that glorify Him and help people come to know Him. I wake up every day thinking… “God, how am I going to get everything done today?” “How am I going to do this?” But, He is so faithful. He has never let me down.

Well, I have a lot more to say, but I’ll save it for later. We are busy getting ready to launch our dri-fit tee shirt line. Josh and Katie are finally getting a little rest. If you all want to give us input on any motivational quotes or verses you would like to see on our shirts, email me at kshiley@scriptureart.com. I really like shirts that make people ask questions. It opens the door for me to share Jesus with them. Any other product ideas or comments that you have, you can send to info@scriptureart.com. You all are family to us and we love hearing from you.

In Him,

Kelly Shiley
